Every dataset we publish, and where to find it
A directory of every dataset Northern Mile Media publishes: diesel prices in Canada and the US, border wait times, IFTA fuel tax rates, the USD/CAD exchange rate and road incidents. Each one names its source and the date it was last refreshed.
We publish public data about trucking in Canada and the United States, on a refresh cycle, with the source named on every page. This is the index. If you are looking for a specific number, start here.
Everything below is free, needs no signup, and carries the date it was last built so you can judge for yourself how stale it is.
Fuel
Diesel prices across Canada is the main page. It carries the national average, every province, and the spread between the cheapest and dearest of the ten index provinces.
By province and city. Natural Resources Canada surveys roughly 45 Canadian cities every week, and we publish each one with its own page. Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, Quebec and Saskatchewan all have a province hub that links to their cities.

US diesel prices. The Energy Information Administration publishes a weekly national average plus five PADD regions. We carry all six and convert them to Canadian cents per litre at the current Bank of Canada rate, so the two countries sit side by side.
The cost calculator. Put in your distance and your fuel burn and it returns a rate floor. It uses the live national average rather than a number we typed in.
Border
Canada-bound waits. The Canada Border Services Agency publishes commercial lane waits at the 30 busiest land crossings. We carry all of them, with the agency's own capture time attached so you can see how old the figure is.
US-bound waits, both borders. This is the bigger set. US Customs and Border Protection publishes 85 land ports with commercial, passenger and pedestrian lanes broken out separately, and we publish all of them. A port that did not report a figure says so. We never print a zero in place of a missing number.
How waits move. Averages and percentiles per crossing, built from our own logged history rather than a single reading.
Tax and currency
IFTA fuel tax rates. The International Fuel Tax Association publishes the official quarterly rate for every jurisdiction. We carry all 58, and we keep the US-licensed and Canadian-licensed rates separate because they genuinely differ in about a third of them.
The exchange rate. The Bank of Canada publishes a daily USD to CAD rate. We carry the current figure, the 30-day average, and the history behind both.
Freight and road conditions
The freight barometer. A quick read on what freight costs are doing, built from public indices.
Market pulse. Five indicators that move a carrier's costs, in one place.
Road incidents. Collisions and closures on major Canadian corridors, pulled from provincial sources.
Industry news. Headlines from trucking trade publications, with Canadian stories given the front slots.
How to read any of this
Every page names its source and shows the build time. Where a number comes from a government survey we say which one and when it was printed. Where a figure is missing we say so rather than filling the gap.
Our methodology page explains the diesel index and how the national average is calculated.
